Russia’s Supreme Court upholds dismissal of 2012 Superjet aircraft

The Supreme Court of Russia has upheld lower courts’ rulings to dismiss a lawsuit lodged by six foreign insurers seeking to collect more than $4 million from local insurer Kapital Strakhovaniye O.A.O. for the Superjet 100 aircraft crash in Indonesia in May 2012, RAPSI reported. The Moscow Commercial Court dismissed the lawsuit filed by insurers U.K.-based QBE Corp. Ltd., Starr Syndicate Ltd., Dornoch Ltd., Bermuda-based Starr Insurance and Reinsurance Ltd., Catlin Insurance Co. Ltd. and Munich Reinsurance Co., on Nov. 25, 2016. The plane was insured by Kapital, which reinsured its risks by 95% in the Western market.
