Fire at Russian market likely to cause $86 million in damage: Official

An official from Russia’s emergency services said that a conflagration at a building supplies market in Moscow on Oct. 8 is likely to have caused about $5 billion Russian rubles ($86 million) worth of damage, reported citing media sources. The fire damaged around 55,000 square meters of the Sindika market’s premises and caused 400 square meters of buildings to collapse, the official said. More than 1,200 shops are located on the premises of the market, which occupies around 130,000 square meters.
