Cyclone Maring lashes Philippines

Romina Marasigan, spokeswoman for the Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said that cyclone Maring made landfall over Mauban municipality on Sept. 12 and caused widespread flooding and landslides, Reuters reported. Several flights were canceled and port operations in some provinces were suspended due to the cyclone. More flash floods and landslides were likely as rains were expected to continue, the spokeswoman added.
