Oil spill threatens nearly 450 marine farms in South Korea: Official

Cho Kyu-Sung, an official at South Korea’s Taean County, said that the country’s west coast has been hit by an oil spill damaging 160 marine farms, with a total of 445 farms under threat, Hazardex reported citing media sources. About 10,500 tons of crude oil leaked into the Yellow Sea when a drifting barge smashed into a Hong Kong-registered Hebei Spirit oil tanker on Sep. 8.
