Canadians can now donate to their favourite charities when they buy a home or auto insurance from a participating Aviva Canada broker.Through the Insure For Your Cause program, brokers donate a portion of their commission to the registered charity of the customer’s choice.
The program was launched by Aviva Canada and the Sudbury-based Local Insurance.
“The Insure For Your Cause concept grew from a desire to benefit those in need in our communities, while developing goodwill with the insurance-purchasing public,” Rod LaRocque, CEO of Local Insurance, said in a statement.

Currently, more than 20 brokerages are participating in the program. One per cent of their commissions are donated to the registered charity of the customer’s choice.
Aviva hopes this program will drive more customers to purchase coverage through a broker.
“Canadians can feel positive about their insurance purchase knowing a portion of the premium is supporting the community,” Chris Sevdalis, senior vice-president of Ontario, GTA and Distribution, said in an email to Canadian Insurance Top Broker. “Not only is this a great way for brokers and customers to work together and help their communities, the customer also gets to choose the cause they care most about to donate funds to.”
